(Top40 Charts/ Lobeline Communications) - Multi-platinum, multi-cultural recording group WAR will perform live in Washington's historic Union Station for the Latino Inaugural Gala - 'Renewing America's Promise, Celebrando el Cambio' two days before the inauguration, January 18, 2009 in honor of Barack Obama becoming the nation's 44th President.

This black-tie event, celebrates the Latino community's strength and unity.
Ten million Latino voices were heard through an unprecedented numbers of votes during the presidential election, 2.5 million more than in the 2004 presidential election.

WAR joins a star-studded array of uniquely talented artists and award-winning performers, including Marc Anthony, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz and others. Co-Hosts of this event include the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). Nominated for induction into the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, WAR's numerous hit anthems include 'Why Can't We Be Friends?' and 'Low Rider,' now heard weekly as the theme song to The George Lopez Show.

WAR's first new release in 14 years, WAR Greatest Hits Live, is in stores now on CD, DVD, and BluRay. Recorded at The Grove in Anaheim, this live collection showcases the band's enduring legacy in the American musical scene.

2009 will mark the critically acclaimed band's fortieth year. Founding member Lonnie Jordan acknowledges that the demand for a live album from WAR has fervently existed for many years. Jordan remarks, 'The performance in this package shows that WAR is still going strong through several generations of fans and our nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a delight!'

During the past four decades, WAR has released 19 albums and has achieved ten top 10 'Billboard' Pop and R&B singles. WAR's music is familiar to baby boomers, as well as to younger generations. WAR was seen performing on national television during the NCLR ALMA Awards, at which they were introduced by comedian George Lopez, who called their song 'Low Rider' the 'Chicano National Anthem.'
