Latino Notebook: Artist speaking in Santa Ana
Documentary to be screened at TKO Boxing Club

Artist visits: Favianna Rodriguez, an artist, activist and author based in Oakland, is guest speaker at the Breath of Fire Latina Theater in Santa Ana on Friday, March 13.

Her topic is "Reproduce and Revolt: Women of color, art and politics."

Documentary screening: The public is invited to a screening of the documentary "Center Street Rising" on Sunday, March 15.

The film focuses on the story of TKO Boxing Club in Santa Ana, which has produced champion boxers while offering young people an alternative to crime and other problems. The film has been accepted by the Newport Beach Film Festival, the club said.

The film will be shown at 2 p.m. at a reception at the TKO Boxing Club, 1601 S. Center St., Santa Ana. Free admission. For information, call Mary Lara at 714-825-0073.

Book club: Las Comadres and Friends Book Club will meet for a discussion of "Notorious," by Michelle Martinez.
